A wonderfully busy weekend - Part 1

We barely spent any time at home this weekend, lots of things to see and do. I was hoping to get this post up yesterday but was too exhausted to even switch on the computer. So, without further ado...

Saturday morning saw Mdblm & I head back to Collingwood, this time for the Rancho Deluxe Swap Meet & Vintage Fair. There were lots of weird and wonderful things for sale; car parts, vintage clothing, engineering diagrams of god knows what, and even a tattooist offering $50 flash art on the spot. I scored a couple of CDs and a t-shirt for less than $10!! It was a great atmosphere and we met some lovely people in the process.

As an aside: The 'I asked her to dance' piece I posted last week has now disappeared and in its place is a boring, beige wall.

From Collingwood we headed off to East Ivanhoe for an 'open for inspection' on an amazing art deco property. Mdblm knows I'm a big art deco fan and properties like this don't come up for sale very often so we couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a sticky beak. Take a look at the pics below and you'll see why...

'Bukit Raja' - King of the Mountain

A feature on the house which appeared in October 1946 edition of The Australian Home Beautiful magazine.

Spiral staircase to the upstairs extension, right at the front door (?)

The new owners of this property will need to have deep pockets. Sadly it is not in a good state and is going to need a whole lot of work done before being up to today's living standards. That said, it really is a rare gem in a sought after location, and the awesome Formica table (and chairs) above are included in the sale. What more could you ask for?
